| CLASSES NOW FORMING|
DUE TI COVID - CLASSES WILL BE LIMITED TO 2 STUDENTS AT A TIME
Classes are available Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. Hours will be 11am - to 6 pm Saturdays 11:00 - 2:00.
Patterns are available along with limited fabric selections. Students are encouraged to explore the local fabric stores and get all required supplies.
Each child will be supplied a 'tool box' which will contain the tools they will need to work on their projects...this tool box Is part of their registration fee, and will be theirs to keep.
I start classes for 7 yr olds, if I find they are not quite ready to sew, parents will be notified.
Classes are limited to 4 at each session. I try to keep same ages together when I can.
Classes meet once a week, same day, same time, for 1 hour...(you choose day and time) ....no exceptions. There are NO MAKEUPS, and NO CREDITS. I am committed to my students, and I hope that my students are committed to me. Learning to sew takes time and continuity, when children miss a class here and there, they do not move forward. Please be on time for dropping your child off, and for picking them up. I do not extend their hour, if they come late. WINTER...tough call...I am at the studio snow or no snow....if you can make it out for class...great..if you are hesitant to drive in snowy conditions....snow days will be made up..we'll take each snowfall as it comes, and we know how New England can be!!
Please do not bring friends, as I have limited space, I will offer a bring friend session now and then.
All supplies are kept in the studio so we do not forget our goodies at home.
Please contact me with any further questions!
Notice to cancel is required 30 days prior to the last class. Students that cancel will receive their book, and any materials and notions they have accumulated. Students that give no notice, and just stop coming to class forfeit these materials to Jan's Sewing Room.

Safety in the Classroom
Jan’s Sewing Room is no different than being in regular school. There is no running, horseplay, or ‘fooling around’. You are surrounded by expensive equipment, and there needs to be an element of respect! No pins in your mouth, no walking around with scissors. The sewing machine is a fast piece of equipment, and if you are not very careful, and accident could happen. Shoes are required - even in summer!! A Pin in the foot is not fun!!
No electronics please – please have cell phones turned off – after all… we’d rather be sewing!!
Please do not bring friends along – there will be ‘Bring A Friend’ days throughout the year just for this purpose.
Your child will be learning to sew... some seams may not be a straight as you would like, but he/she will be doing their best. I will remind them - ‘measure twice - cut once!!’ Believe me I am not exempt from learning from my misfortunes (aka making a mistake!) Please have your child arrive on time and pick up promptly. Parents will be dropping off their student, there are no accommodations for parents to wait for their student. Please visit Get Baked for a coffee while your student sews!!
Tuition is DUE AT THE FIRST LESSON OF THE MONTH. Remember - no make ups and no credits for missed lessons. Late payments will be charged a $10.00 late fee. Students will leave their projects here in a specified ‘cubby’, so no one will forget to bring their project with them each week. Upon completion, they will bring their project home! Please do not purchase plaids or stripes for your projects, and be sure to purchase good quality thread. Coats and Clarke is a good brand and can be found at JoAnn’s.
What You Need to Bring!
Your enthusiasm, a smile, and a willingness to learn!! Sewing machines are here in the studio, as well as a tool box for each machine operator! You will need to bring the correct amount of fabric and a spool of thread for each new project. A list of supplies needed will be provided to each student.
Visit www.joann.com and sign up for special coupon offers, and watch your Sunday paper for more savings. JoAnn’s has many sales, and for smaller projects, you might check the remnant bin! If you want to embellish your project - keep this in mind when you are shopping.
Supplies for the FIRST project ONLY are included.
